During the summer of 2005, I decided to explore Central America on a budget. I wanted adventure, jungles, and animals. Costa Rica, Belize, and Guatemala are known for all three of these.CLICK ON a PICTURE TO ENLARGE IT.

Riding a Horse down the Continental Divide
There aren't any good roads between the mountain town of Monteverde and the Arenal volcano. So I decided to travel by horse. I hadn't ridden a horse since I was ten years old so this was the biggest challenge of my whole trip. I had a young horse that wanted to go everywhere but the right way. I first had to learn to manage the horse which was pretty easy. The hard task was going down a steep mountain during the rainy season. Fortunately, it was a sunny day and I got beautiful pictures. The horse was often knee deep in mud. The path had deep ruts - no car, jeep, or truck could have traveled it.
